Week of the Environment 2024

This year's Week of the Environment organised by the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) will take place on June 4 and 5, 2024, in the Bellevue Palace Park in Berlin.

The President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU), issue an invitaiton to this year's Week of the Environment. The event will take place on June 4 and 5, 2024, in the Bellevue Palace Park in Berlin. It will feature an attractive program, engaging discussions, and a large exhibition. About 190 exhibitors from various sectors will showcase innovative solutions for sustainable change. The event includes discussions on hydrogen technology, climate neutrality, energy security, biodiversity, resource protection, and societal transformation. Additionally, there will be 70 forums on topics like energy, climate protection, conservation, and agriculture.

We are delighted to announce that a collaborative project of RWTH Institute for Biotechnology (BIOTEC) and the RWTH Institute of Applied Microbiology (iAMB), key partners in the MIX-UP Project, has been selected for presentation at the Week of the Environment 2024. The iAMB and BIOTEC research groups have collaborated to develop a process that recycles phosphates for the food industry from renewable raw materials. The two-stage process of biotechnological bio-polyphosphate production consists of enzymatic phosphate extraction from de-oiled seeds and bran, coupled with biotransformation using microorganisms.
