We are delighted to announce that a collaborative project of RWTH Institute for Biotechnology (BIOTEC) and the RWTH Institute of Applied Microbiology (iAMB), key partners in the MIX-UP Project, has been selected for presentation at the Week of the Environment 2024. The iAMB and BIOTEC research groups have collaborated to develop a process that recycles phosphates for the food industry from renewable raw materials. The two-stage process of biotechnological bio-polyphosphate production consists of enzymatic phosphate extraction from de-oiled seeds and bran, coupled with biotransformation using microorganisms.
