The plastics pollution crisis is one of the most urgent challenges of our time. While plastic pollution is a global problem, research and innovation in this area is not yet globally connected.
However, the steps to ultimately tackle this problem will necessitate collaboration and perspective on a global scale. To that end, the second annual World Plastics Summit is being organized to assemble international research leaders in plastics recycling and redesign in Monaco.
The meeting was held on March 23-25 and Till Tiso took part as a delegate of MIX-UP: "Last week some representatives of the MIX-UP project visited vibrant Monaco to participate in The World Plastics Summit. Auxi Prieto (CSIC), Tanja Narancic (UCD), Will Casey and Enrico Altieri (BIOPLASTECH), and Till Tiso (Aachen University) had the chance to discuss with the leading international experts the solutions to the growing issue of plastic pollution. Supported by Lady Oxana Girko and Oleg Novachuk and organized by John McGeehan the meeting was highly informative, and the group dynamics showed that the right people had come together. After three busy days of presentations, discussions, and making plans, the event culminated in the gala dinner at the Monaco Yacht Club."
