The lecture is themed "From Plastic Waste to Plastic Value using Pseudomonas putida" and focuses on the environmental impact of polymers which are not biodegradable and the difficulties faced in the recycling process. In the lecture, Prof. Blank proposes a strategy that allows upcycling of plastic waste, by feeding degraded plastic as carbon source to microbial plastic producers. In more detail, the enzymatic degradation of PET and the possibilities to produce valuable products from the resulting monomers will be presented. Interested?
