Our established enzyme brands comprise solutions for baking, beverages, grains and vegetable oil seeds processing, animal feed and technical applications such as pulp and paper, textiles and laundry detergents. The company is part of Associated British Foods
and is represented worldwide with offices located in Darmstadt, Rajamäki, Plantation (FL), Sao Paulo, Singapore and Shanghai.
Within WP2 “Enzyme production and mixed enzymatic hydrolysis of mixed plastics”, AB Enzymes will create fungal and bacterial strains for heterologous production of plastic degrading enzymes and enzyme variants with a focus on the optimisation of their
production processes. AB Enzymes also has a minor part in WP8 “Dissemination and exploitation”.
Thomas studied Biology at the University of Muenster, Germany, and did his PhD in the field of fungal genetics. During the following postdoc from 2007 to 2009, he worked with avian influenza viruses and used Phage Display to screen for novel antiviral drugs. In 2009 Thomas joined AB Enzymes as Senior Scientist working in fungal strain development until 2019. Since then, he is part of the AB Enzymes’ Project Management Office.
